841 TE · Isola Sacra

The King is dead. The Pestilence has returned.

A Cerim washes ashore with nothing. This dossier is the map of everything that comes after — the factions and classes, the gear rules, the gems and enchantments, and every vendor on the island.

Introduction

This dossier began as a class guide and has grown into a field manual for No Rest for the Wicked: the story that sets the game in motion, the class system Moon Studios is bringing at 1.0, the gear rules every build answers to, and a full reference for the gems, enchantments, vendors and items in the live game.

It is written for the player who wants to understand a choice before making it. Every class will be a commitment of weapon, attribute spread, gems and enchantments; every vendor visit is a question of what can actually be on the shelf. The aim throughout is to put the real numbers and the real lists in one place, and to be honest about where the record ends and the reasoning begins.

The guide opens with The Lore, the events that lead to a Cerim washing ashore in the Shallows. What We Know sets out the class-system record and separates it from inference. Factions lays out all six factions and the twenty-four classes beneath them; Classes profiles the armors revealed so far, one at a time; and Rules That Govern sets out the gear mechanics every build answers to.

Then the reference: Infusions covers all forty-two gems and every slot they fit; Enchantments lists every roll in the game by the piece it lands on; Vendors covers all seventeen traders on Isola Sacra — how to unlock each, what they guarantee, and the pools they draw their random stock from at every shop level; and the Catalog lists every item those pools can produce, by type, with each item's full panel a hover away.

Nothing here is final. The class system is still being built and the live game keeps changing; this dossier grows with each reveal until all twenty-four classes are covered, and the reference sections are refreshed from the game data as it moves. Where a claim is Moon's own it is marked confirmed; where it is coverage or deduction it is marked as such.

The Lore

What happened before the ship ever left harbour. The world of No Rest for the Wicked is already in motion when the game opens, and the first hours make more sense when you know who set it moving.

A thousand years ago

The first Pestilence

Long before the story begins, an unholy plague swept the land. The Pestilence does not simply kill: it corrupts whatever it touches, and its victims are remade as monstrous versions of themselves. It was driven back, at great cost, and over the centuries that followed it faded into scripture and rumour — a thing the Church remembered and the common people half believed.

The order that answered it

The Cerim

The Pestilence was met by the Cerim, an ancient order of mystical holy warriors imbued with remarkable powers and sworn to defeat it at any cost. They are the Church’s blade against corruption, feared and resented as much as they are revered. You play one of them, and the sailors who carry you to the island consider a Cerim aboard to be bad luck.

841 TE

The King is dead

In the year 841, King Harol dies in his bed. The crown passes to his only son, Magnus — arrogant, untested and surrounded by a court that does not yet take him seriously, among them his uncle Baurus. In the same breath as the funeral, the family’s talk turns to reports from the provinces: the Pestilence, unseen for a thousand years, has returned.

The Church moves

Madrigal Seline

Within the Church, the ruthlessly ambitious Madrigal Seline sees the plague’s return as her chance to prove herself to her god. She takes the crisis in hand, and it is the Church — not the new king — that dispatches a Cerim to the island to investigate the rumours. Seline will follow with forces of her own, and her arrival in Sacrament is where the Cerim’s obligations to her begin.

Where it is happening

Isola Sacra

The outbreak is on Isola Sacra, a backwater island of crumbling ruins at the edge of the kingdom. It is governed by a provincial administration seated in the city of Sacrament, where Ellsworth holds authority and Winnick commands the guard. Against them stand the Risen, a rebel movement raiding the coast and roads — led, as the Cerim will discover, by Odessa, Ellsworth’s own daughter. Cunning rulers and ferocious rebels are already at each other’s throats before the plague adds a third side.

The crossing

Captain Talvic’s ship

A merchant captain, Talvic, is paid to carry the Cerim to Sacrament and wants them off his deck the moment they land. He never gets the chance. In the night the ship is boarded by Risen raiders under Odessa; the crew fight them off, and a storm does the rest, driving the hull onto the rocks. Meanwhile Magnus, newly crowned, resolves to sail for the island himself.

Where the game begins

The Shallows

The Cerim washes ashore alone, armor reduced to rags, possessions gone. Talvic lies dying on the beach, regretting the passage he sold, with a last warning that the road to Sacrament is crawling with the raiders who sank him. Everything that follows — the Risen, Seline’s summons, the plague-torn wilds and the city waiting to be rebuilt — starts from that stretch of sand.

The reveal itself

The October 2nd post is art, not design. Moon published five renders with one line of copy between them: shocked steel, walking fortresses, plague harnessing, frozen majesty and gilded skulkers. Those five phrases sit in the same order as the five images, which is how this dossier pairs them. Confirmed

No class in the post carries a stat line, a weapon list, a trait, or a number of any kind. The studio closed by pointing at the next Wicked Inside for the class system deep dive.

How the system is changing

Each weapon archetype maps to a class. Using a weapon earns points that unlock that class's traits, you equip six at a time, and mastering a weapon lets you extract its runes. Classes also get a super on a charge bar. Reported

Two changes matter more than the rest: weapons lose their attribute requirements, and 1.0 arrives with a save wipe. The first turns attributes from gates into pure scaling and survivability decisions. The second means nothing you build before launch carries over.

02

Factions

Moon published a screenshot of the class selection screen, and the whole roster is legible in it: six factions, four classes each, twenty-four in total. Every name and every faction placement below is read directly off that screen. Confirmed

The screen carries its own warning across the bottom — subject to change. Names and groupings can still move before March.

What the screen does not give is what the classes do. Only Rogue's description was visible. The mechanics below come from an earlier experimental build documented by the community wiki, which covered nineteen of these names, and from coverage of the class reveal.

Two classes, Cutthroat and Harbinger, appear on the screen and nowhere else. Nothing is known about either beyond the faction they sit in and their weapon icon.

Cleric

Mace · support runes

Focus-driven support that drops focus orbs for the party. Its cards name the Cleric's Mace and Radiant Star. The only archetype shown that is defined by what it does for other players.

Crusader

Heavy · plague

Described as a slow, heavy anti-Paladin built on plague and on banking focus for supers. The faction's dark mirror.

Monk

Stamina

A stamina engine built to keep attacking with no downtime. Where the rest of the game asks you to manage the bar, this one asks you to never stop spending it.

Paladin

Charged attacks · auras

Charged attacks with Smite, Retribution and auras. The most conventional holy-warrior kit on the board.

The Hunter's GuildRaw force and the kill

Archer

Bow

Dodges first and answers with arrows. The only pure ranged class in the roster, and the one Moon singled out for attention in a past combat pass.

Barbarian

Great clubs

Smashing attacks with the heaviest blunt weapons, building Fury from kills and staggers and spending it on a charged attack. Profiled in full further down.

Berserker

Rage · fatalities

Turns damage taken into recoverable health and rewards fatalities with a rage state. A class that wants to be hurt and then finish something.

Marauder

Axes

Close-range axe combo chains that meet enemies head-on, with bonuses for taking hits rather than avoiding them.

The Sacrament GuardDiscipline, reach and the line

Dragoon

Distance

Deals more damage the farther it is from its target. An unusual rule in a melee game, and the one class on the board whose positioning is its damage stat.

Guardian

Shield

A straightforward all-rounder that empowers its next attack after a block. The clearest entry point in the roster.

Knight

Two-handed greatswords

A comeback class: less damage taken at low health, more damage dealt the more it has already absorbed. It wants the fight to go badly before it goes well.

Sentinel

Polearms

Reach and wide sweeping attacks. The faction's answer to being outnumbered: keep everything at the end of a long weapon.

ScuttlersDirty, opportunistic fighting

Brute

Interrupts

Interrupts and staggers while dodging through attacks. Stagger pressure without the armor weight the Barbarian pays for it.

Cutthroat

Unknown

Appears on the class screen and nowhere else. No description has been published. No data

Fencer

Parry · perfect dodge

Rewards parries and perfect dodges, and punishes enemies during their wind-up. The highest-execution defensive class, and the one that turns the game's hardest mechanic into a damage source.

Warlord

Bleed

Builds bleed toward a bloodlust state and restores health from the blood enemies leave behind. Sustain earned by cutting rather than by blocking.

The Severed HandSpeed, stealth and misdirection

Assassin

Stealth

Breaks away from combat to set up sneak attacks. The only class built around leaving a fight in order to win it.

Harbinger

Unknown

Appears on the class screen and nowhere else. No description has been published. No data

Rogue

Dual wield

“Fast, stamina-heavy dual-wielder that thrives on hit-and-run tactics.” The one class whose own description is visible on the selection screen, with a combo meter that scales as a string is kept alive. Confirmed

Wraith

Fast blades · ninjutsu

A fast shinobi working through illusions and quick slashes. Profiled in full further down.

UnspokenThe four elements

Frost Mage

Ice · staff

Slows and freezes with runes, then shatters what it has frozen. Profiled in full further down.

Plaguebearer

Polearm · plague

Infects itself along with everything near it, then collects on the bonus damage against plagued targets. Profiled in full further down.

Pyromancer

Fire

Burn and damage over time that scales as it spreads between enemies, finishing in explosions.

Stormbringer

Lightning

A critical-hit class whose shock chains between enemies. Profiled in full further down,

Cleric · Class Armor

House of the Born GodRole reported

Cleric

“Orbs for the party”

The Born God's healer in the mechanical sense, if not the ceremonial one: a focus-driven support class that drops focus orbs for the rest of the party to pick up. Its cards name the Cleric's Mace and Radiant Star. It is the only archetype shown on the selection screen that is defined by what it does for other players rather than what it does to enemies — an odd thing to build in a game this committed to letting you solo everything, which suggests co-op play is taken more seriously than the marketing lets on.

What it does

A focus-support class built around the Cleric's Mace and the Radiant Star, dropping focus orbs other players can pick up. Reported Nothing says the orbs are party-only, so even a solo Cleric may be managing its own focus economy more efficiently than classes without the tool.

Strengths

  • The only class whose kit is explicitly about the party rather than itself, which makes it the natural anchor for a Crusade or co-op run.
  • A mace is a blunt weapon, so poise and stagger pressure come free alongside the support role.

Weaknesses

  • A kit built around giving resources to others does little in solo play until more of it is known.
  • Blunt weapons trade range for stopping power, which asks the player to stand closer than a pure support archetype usually wants to.

Crusader

“The dark mirror”

Described as a slow, heavy anti-Paladin built on plague damage and on banking focus toward its supers — the faction's own answer to what happens when faith curdles. House of the Born God is built on auras and conviction; a class inside it that fights with the Pestilence itself is either a heretic in its own ranks or proof the church's war on plague is more complicated than a clean fight between the faithful and the infected.

What it does

A heavy class running plague damage and a focus-banking super, grouped as the Born God's anti-Paladin. Reported Plague in the live game cuts enemy healing and pays attackers lifesteal against infected targets, so a heavy weapon with plague infused onto it turns every trade into sustain.

Strengths

  • Heavy weight buys poise, so trades are forgiving while the plague damage accrues in the background.
  • Lifesteal against infected enemies turns a slow class into one that can afford to grind a fight out.

Weaknesses

  • Banking focus for a super asks for patience a heavy, poise-trading class may not get against aggressive bosses.
  • Plague zones scale enemy resistance, the same trap every plague build in this game runs into.

Monk

“Never stop spending it”

A stamina engine built to keep attacking with no downtime, where the rest of the game asks you to manage the bar and this one asks you to never let it run dry. It is the simplest idea on the whole roster and arguably the hardest to get wrong: a class with no status gimmick and no support tool, just the promise that its stamina spends differently than everyone else's.

What it does

A stamina-focused class with no further mechanic published. Reported Read literally, that means the archetype's identity is entirely in its stamina economy — regeneration, cost reduction, or both — rather than in any status or elemental hook.

Strengths

  • A kit with no elemental anti-synergy to manage, unlike every status-based class on this list.
  • If the stamina economy is as generous as reported, it is the class least punished for playing aggressively.

Weaknesses

  • No damage hook beyond raw stamina uptime means it may lag classes that stack a status on top of their swings.

Paladin

“The conventional answer”

Charged attacks built around Smite, Retribution and standing auras — the most conventional holy-warrior kit on the board, and the faction's clearest public face. Where Cleric supports and Crusader goes heretical, Paladin is House of the Born God playing it straight: charge an attack, hold a line, let the aura do its work on anyone who stays near it.

What it does

A charged-attack class naming Smite and Retribution, with standing auras as a third tool. Reported Charge mechanics usually trade a wind-up for a bigger hit, which reads as a deliberate, punish-heavy rhythm rather than a fast one.

Strengths

  • Auras offer passive value a charge-attack class does not have to actively trigger to benefit from.
  • The most legible kit on the roster for a player who wants a straightforward entry point.

Weaknesses

  • Charged attacks are a commitment; whiffing one against a mobile target is the Paladin's worst moment.

In a game built on close punishes and poise trades, a class whose entire identity is staying out of range is doing something none of the other twenty-three are.

What it does

A dodge-first ranged class built around the bow. Reported Being the only pure-ranged archetype on the board means its balance answer to every melee matchup is distance itself, not armor or poise.

Strengths

  • The only class that can fight without ever being in weapon range, which sidesteps poise and stagger entirely.
  • Singled out for a dedicated combat pass, which suggests ranged play is a real priority rather than an afterthought.

Barbarian class armor: an enormous figure encased head to toe in pitted stone-grey plate with a conical helm

Barbarian · Class Armor

The Hunter's GuildRole reported

Barbarian

“Walking fortresses”

The Hunter's Guild's blunt instrument. It fights with the heaviest clubs in the game and runs on Fury, a meter filled by kills and staggers and emptied into one charged swing. Its faction is the one organised around raw force and the kill — not clergy and not soldiery, but people whose trade is bringing large things down, which on an island overrun by mutated hosts is steady work. The armor is pitted stone-grey plate with no gap and no skin showing, built so wide at the shoulder that the proportions stop being human.

What it does

Barbarian is a club class: huge blunt weapons and smashing attacks, grouped under the Hunter's Guild. Reported In the live game, blunt weapons carry the heaviest stagger, and stagger is the opening that makes everything else possible. Expect the class to be built around breaking poise rather than out-pacing anything.

Strengths

  • Highest poise of the five. You can eat a hit mid-swing and keep the swing.
  • Stagger damage opens punish windows that light classes have to earn with timing.
  • The most forgiving way to learn a new boss, because mistakes cost health instead of the whole run.

Weaknesses

  • Heavy weight class means slow, expensive rolls. Stamina discipline matters more here, not less.
  • Equip Load is a tax: every point spent carrying armor is a point not spent on damage or sustain.
  • Being surrounded is close to a death sentence, which is a real problem in plague zones.

The Hunter's GuildRole reported

Berserker

“Hurt, then finish”

Turns damage taken into recoverable health and rewards fatalities with a rage state — a class that wants to be hurt and then finish something. The Hunter's Guild is built on raw force and the kill, and Berserker is the most literal read of that brief: let the fight get ugly, then end it.

What it does

Converts damage taken into regainable health and enters a rage state on landing a fatality. Reported That is two systems reinforcing one loop: take a hit to fund the comeback, then kill something to extend it.

Strengths

  • Turns hits taken into a resource instead of pure loss, which rewards aggressive, close-range play.
  • Fatalities are already a core mechanic in the live game, so this class gets extra value from something every build already does.

Weaknesses

  • A loop built on taking damage is unforgiving against bosses that punish greed with a combo rather than a single hit.

Marauder

“Meets it head-on”

Close-range axe combo chains that meet enemies head-on, with bonuses for taking hits rather than avoiding them. Where Archer is the Hunter's Guild's exception, Marauder is its rule: close the distance, keep chaining, and treat the enemy's return swing as part of the plan rather than a failure state.

What it does

Axe-based combo chains built for close range, rewarded for taking hits during the exchange. Reported Axes in most action games trade reach for raw damage and stagger; a chain-combo identity on top of that points at a class that wants to stay inside a fight rather than dance around it.

Strengths

  • Rewards standing in the pocket, which removes the stamina cost of repositioning that lighter classes pay constantly.
  • Axe weapons typically carry real stagger, compounding with the chain-combo identity.

Weaknesses

Dragoon

“Positioning is the damage stat”

Deals more damage the farther it is from its target — an unusual rule in a melee-heavy game, and the one class on the entire board whose positioning is its damage stat rather than a defensive consideration. The Sacrament Guard is built on discipline and the line; Dragoon reads that as holding ground and making enemies come to it.

What it does

Damage scales up with distance from the target. Reported That is an unusual rule for a close-combat game, and it reframes every engagement around opening space rather than closing it.

Strengths

  • The only class whose core stat scales with distance, which makes kiting a damage tool rather than just survival.
  • Encourages a disciplined, positioning-first playstyle that punishes enemies for approaching carelessly.

Nothing exotic here: block, get rewarded, swing. It is the archetype every other shield-adjacent idea on the board gets compared to.

What it does

A shield class whose next attack is empowered after a successful block. Reported That is a straightforward risk-reward loop: block correctly, then cash it in on the following swing.

Strengths

  • The lowest-execution defensive loop on the roster, and the easiest class to recommend to someone new to the game.
  • A shield is itself a stagger and poise tool before the empowered-attack bonus is even counted.

Knight

“Wants it to go badly first”

A comeback class: less damage taken at low health, more damage dealt the more it has already absorbed — it wants the fight to go badly before it goes well. Two-handed greatswords are the heaviest conventional melee option on the board, and this is the one class built to make surviving on the back foot into a damage curve rather than a near-death scramble.

What it does

A greatsword class that takes reduced damage at low health and deals more the more damage it has absorbed. Reported Both halves of that reward the same thing: staying in a fight that has already gone badly, rather than resetting it.

Strengths

  • The damage-taken-reduces-damage-taken scaling makes attrition fights the Knight's best matchup, not its worst.
  • A greatsword carries real poise and stagger on its own, before the comeback mechanic is even in play.

Sentinel · Class Armor

The Sacrament GuardRole reported

Sentinel

“The line's answer”

Reach and wide sweeping attacks — the faction's answer to being outnumbered: keep everything at the end of a long weapon. Where Guardian holds a line with a shield and Knight absorbs it with armor, Sentinel's answer to the Sacrament Guard's problem of discipline under pressure is simply never letting anything get close enough to test it.

What it does

A polearm class built around reach and wide sweeping attacks. Reported A sweep that covers an arc rather than a line reads as crowd control first, single-target damage second.

Strengths

  • Reach lets the Sentinel threaten a space rather than a point, which is unusually strong against groups.
  • A wide sweep punishes enemies for approaching in numbers, which matters in a game with mutated hosts everywhere.

Weaknesses

  • Reach weapons typically give something up in single-target damage compared to a dedicated greatsword or axe build.
  • A sweep-first kit can struggle against a single fast boss that closes the gap and stays inside it.

ScuttlersRole reported

Brute

“Dirty and opportunistic”

Interrupts and staggers while dodging through attacks — stagger pressure without the armor weight the Barbarian pays for it. Scuttlers fight dirty and opportunistically, and Brute is the faction's take on a stagger class: same goal as the Hunter's Guild's heaviest hitter, reached by staying light and mobile instead of simply outweighing the target.

What it does

Interrupts and staggers enemies while dodging through incoming attacks. Reported That pairs a light, evasive frame with a damage type — stagger — usually reserved for heavy classes, which is the Brute's whole trick.

Strengths

  • Gets stagger pressure, usually a heavy-class privilege, from a light and mobile frame instead.
  • Dodging through attacks rather than around them should make the Brute hard to simply out-position.

Weaknesses

  • Light frame means the poise to back up an interrupt attempt that goes wrong is probably thin.
  • Nothing published distinguishes its interrupt tool from a well-timed light-weapon stagger build.

ScuttlersRole reported

Fencer

“The hardest mechanic, cashed in”

Rewards parries and perfect dodges, and punishes enemies during their wind-up — the highest-execution defensive class on the board, and the one that turns the game's hardest mechanic into a damage source rather than just a way to avoid one. Scuttlers fight dirty and opportunistically, and nothing is more opportunistic than hitting something in the middle of its own attack.

What it does

Rewards parries and perfect dodges, with bonus damage against enemies caught mid wind-up. Reported That stacks two of the hardest inputs in the game — the parry window and the perfect dodge — into the same class's core identity.

Strengths

  • Converts the game's highest-skill defensive tools directly into damage, rewarding mastery more than any other class.
  • A wind-up punish window is a repeatable, learnable opening against most enemy patterns.

Weaknesses

  • The highest execution floor on the roster; a missed parry is a worse outcome here than on any class built around raw stats.
  • Gives up whatever passive survivability a heavier or support-oriented class gets for free.

ScuttlersRole reported

Warlord

“Sustain earned in blood”

Builds bleed toward a bloodlust state and restores health from the blood enemies leave behind — sustain earned by cutting rather than by blocking. Where Guardian's Sacrament Guard trades patience for safety, Warlord's Scuttlers trade patience for a fight that gets easier the longer it bleeds, which fits a faction built on dirty, opportunistic combat down to the ground.

What it does

Builds bleed toward a bloodlust state and heals from enemy blood. Reported Bleed status in most action games is a burst-damage proc rather than a sustained drain, which would make the healing component a reward for landing that proc rather than a slow trickle.

Strengths

  • Sustain that comes from offense rather than a dedicated healing or lifesteal tool, freeing up gear slots.
  • Bleed procs stack well with fast, multi-hit weapons, giving the Warlord room to pick its own weapon identity.

Weaknesses

  • A bleed build is only as good as the weapon attached to it; a slow heavy weapon undercuts the whole loop.
  • Nothing published says what the bloodlust state does beyond being entered, so its payoff is unconfirmed.

The Severed HandRole reported

Assassin

“Leaves the fight to win it”

Breaks away from combat to set up sneak attacks — the only class built around leaving a fight in order to win it. The Severed Hand deals in speed, stealth and misdirection, and Assassin is the purest expression of that brief: disengage, reposition, and let the opening attack do the work a sustained exchange would have to earn the hard way.

What it does

Disengages from combat to set up stealth sneak attacks. Reported A class built to leave and re-enter a fight needs tools to actually break line of sight or aggro, which is the detail most worth watching for once more is known.

Strengths

  • Sneak-attack damage is typically the highest single hit available outside a fatality, and this class is built to repeat the setup.
  • Disengaging on demand is a defensive tool as much as an offensive one — it is a way out of a bad trade.

Weaknesses

  • A kit built on resetting the fight is poor against bosses with no downtime or that track the player through a break.
  • Likely gives up sustained-pressure damage for the burst the opening attack provides.

“Fast, stamina-heavy dual-wielder”

“Fast, stamina-heavy dual-wielder that thrives on hit-and-run tactics.” The one class whose own description is visible on the selection screen, with a combo meter that scales as a string is kept alive. Confirmed Paired with Wraith under the Severed Hand, Rogue is the faction's speed made literal: two blades, a meter that rewards never stopping, and tactics built around hitting something and already being somewhere else by the time it turns around.

What it does

A dual-wielding, stamina-heavy class with a combo meter that scales as the string is kept alive, built for hit-and-run tactics. Confirmed, direct from the class selection screen — the only entry on this list with developer-written text behind it.

Strengths

  • The only class description written by the developers rather than inferred, so its identity is the most trustworthy on this list.
  • A combo meter that rewards an unbroken string gives Rogue a clear, legible skill expression: keep the chain alive.

Weaknesses

  • Stamina-heavy by its own description, which likely means thin margins against anything that punishes an empty bar.

Wraith class armor: a dark lacquered figure with gold filigree, a horned helm, a long cape and a glowing red blade

Wraith · Class Armor

The Severed HandRole reported

Wraith

“Gilded skulkers”

The Severed Hand's killer. A fast shinobi working through ninjutsu illusions and quick slashes, in a faction whose banner is a severed hand with blood running off the fingers — the mark of a guild that deals in what gets taken from people. Isola Sacra is a province where rebel groups and the provincial government are already fighting over the ruins, and a class built on misdirection and speed is the one that profits from that. Projected The armor is black lacquer and gold filigree with a blade lit red from within, and the gold is the point: this is the only one of the five that looks like someone paid for it.

What it does

A fast shinobi built on ninjutsu illusions and quick slashes, grouped under The Severed Hand alongside Rogue. Reported Illusions imply repositioning and misdirection rather than raw mitigation, which in practice means your defence is not being where the attack lands.

Strengths

  • Fast multi-hit strings build status quickly, which makes bleed the natural pairing.
  • Illusion and mobility tools give outs that no other class on this list has.
  • Highest ceiling of the five. Played well, it ends fights before they develop.

Weaknesses

  • Light armor and low poise. One missed read is a full combo taken, not a chip of health.
  • Utility kits usually pay for their tricks in raw damage. Expect to work harder for the same numbers.
  • Positional damage is awkward in co-op, where enemies turn to face whoever has aggro.

Frost Mage class armor: a pale figure clad in jagged accreted ice shards, holding a staff topped with a frozen skull

Frost Mage · Class Armor

UnspokenRole reported

Frost Mage

“Frozen majesty”

A controller before it is a damage dealer. Its runes slow and freeze, and the payoff comes from shattering what has been frozen rather than from the cold itself — a two-stage kit in a game that otherwise rewards committing to one exchange at a time. Like every Unspoken class it practises something elemental and unsanctioned, and of the four it is the one that reads as nobility gone wrong: the helm is a beaked crown, the staff is capped with a frozen skull, and the ice has accreted over the body in plates rather than being forged into any.

Freeze, then break

An earlier experimental build described Frost Mage as slowing and freezing enemies with runes, then shattering them. Reported That is a two-stage kit: the runes set the condition, and the payoff comes from breaking a frozen target rather than from the frost damage itself.

Worth flagging: the game's own equipment documentation lists ice as a damage type with gems but does not spell out an ice status the way it does for plague, lightning and fire. So the freeze exists in the class, not yet in the published gear rules.

Strengths

  • A staff and a robe silhouette point at range, which is the safest place to learn an encounter from.
  • Ice is the least-used element in current builds, so competition for ice gear and gems should be thin.
  • Slow and freeze are control, and control is what a fragile class trades for survival.

Weaknesses

  • Casters have historically underperformed here. Players have spent whole runs reporting that magic felt weak next to melee.
  • No visible poise or physical protection. Anything that reaches you resolves the fight quickly.
  • Entirely focus-gated. Run the bar dry and the class stops working until you build it back.

Plaguebearer class armor: a figure in a riveted diving-bell helm with portholes, verdigris wrappings and red straps, holding a polearm

Plaguebearer · Class Armor

UnspokenRole reported

Plaguebearer

“Plague harnessing”

The whole story of this game is an unholy plague returning after a thousand years, and a church that intends to burn it out of the world. The Plaguebearer's answer is to infect itself on purpose and take everything nearby down with it, then collect on the damage bonus against anything already rotting. That is heresy worked into a build, and it is no accident the class sits in Unspoken beside the other elements the Inquisition would rather nobody practised. Projected The armor is a containment suit, not a harness: a riveted diving bell for a helm, verdigris wrappings, blood-red webbing strapped across the chest like a surgeon's cross.

Why plague is the sustain element

Plague infection does two things in the live game: it cuts the target's healing, and it gives attackers lifesteal against infected enemies. Pair that with a rot aura that spreads between enemies Reported and the class feeds itself — the more things you have infected, the more health you pull back per swing.

Strengths

  • Lifesteal is built into the element, so solo sustain does not cost a gear slot.
  • A spreading aura turns a crowd from a threat into a resource.
  • Cutting enemy healing is a direct answer to regenerating and plague-empowered foes.

Weaknesses

  • Damage over time is slow. Against a boss that repositions constantly, the aura does little.
  • The aura pays you for standing in melee range of infected packs, which is where the danger is.
  • Plague zones scale enemy level and resistance, so the class's own element is also what it fights.

Pyromancer · Class Armor

UnspokenRole reported

Pyromancer

“Spreads, then finishes”

Burn and damage over time that scales as it spreads between enemies, finishing in explosions. Unspoken holds all four elements, and Pyromancer is the one built to be loud about it: fire that jumps from target to target and ends not in a slow burn-out but in something that actually detonates.

What it does

Fire-based damage over time that scales as it spreads, culminating in an explosion. Reported A finisher that explodes rather than simply expiring suggests the payoff for letting burn spread is a deliberate, timed moment rather than passive chip damage.

Strengths

  • Spreading burn scales naturally with how many enemies are grouped, like Stormbringer's shock but built around a slower, bigger payoff.
  • An explosive finisher gives the class a clear burst window once the burn has had time to spread.

Weaknesses

  • Damage over time is, as with Plaguebearer, slow against a single repositioning boss that never lets the burn fully develop.
  • Fire resistance is a common defensive stat across this kind of game; a resistant target likely blunts the whole build.

Stormbringer class armor: a slim figure in dark leather and plate wearing a tall crown of iron spikes

Stormbringer · Class Armor

UnspokenRole reported

Stormbringer

“Shocked steel”

A duellist who fights with the storm rather than a second weapon. Lightning is the kit: crits that land hard and shock that jumps from the body it struck into whatever is standing too close. Stormbringer belongs to Unspoken, the faction that holds all four elements — and in a province where the church decides what may be known and Madrigal Seline is burning her way toward a cleansing, a name like Unspoken reads as a verdict passed on them rather than one they chose. Projected The armor agrees with the role: iron spikes fan off the skull like a conductor's array, and there is no shield anywhere on the figure.

Why lightning is the whole class

An earlier experimental build described Stormbringer as a critical-hit class that shocks enemies and chains lightning through them. Reported That pairs two things: crit scaling, and an element that spreads.

Shock already does something no other element does — it resets the target's status buildup and damages enemies standing near it. So the chain is the class, and stacking shock alongside bleed or burn fights itself: the shock wipes the buildup the other status was accumulating.

Strengths

  • Shock splashes to nearby enemies, so clear speed scales with how tightly a pack is bunched.
  • Crit scaling and chain damage multiply together: one lucky crit propagates through the pack.
  • The buildup reset works as soft control against enemies charging a status of their own.
  • Light frame points at a dodge-and-punish rhythm with cheap rolls and fast recovery.

Weaknesses

  • Anti-synergy with every other status effect. This is a mono-element class whether you like it or not.
  • Almost no poise. A single trade against an armored enemy ends the exchange badly.
  • Splash damage does nothing in a one-on-one boss fight, which is where the campaign is decided.

Rules That Govern

Read this before the build advice

Moon has published no mechanics for these five classes. Every attribute spread, gem and enchantment in the class profiles is reasoning from two things that are known: the element or role the armor and name point at, and how the live game's equipment systems behave right now. Those systems are themselves being reworked for 1.0.

Use this to decide what to pay attention to in the Wicked Inside and the December beta, not as a build order. Everything here gets rechecked when real numbers land.

Commit to one element

An elemental gem grants no enchantment power if another elemental gem is already equipped anywhere on your gear. Mixing plague, lightning, fire and ice does not diversify a build, it disables most of it. Pick the element the class is named after and run it alone.

Sockets follow rarity

Common gear carries four gem slots; magical, plagued and unique carry one each. Plagued items add four upside slots and one mandatory downside. A fully socketed common piece is often stronger than a rare one.

One enchantment per group

Magical and plagued enchantments belong to groups, and an item cannot carry two from the same group. Misc is the exception. Plan an item's rolls as a set, not a wishlist.

Exalting caps at four

Each exalt lifts a roll by 25% and can push past the normal maximum. Four is the ceiling per item, and the Watcher's material cost climbs steeply — the fourth needs two each of Torn Sinew, Marrow and Husk.

Runes are category-locked

Every weapon has four rune slots, and a rune only fits weapons in its own category. Extracting a rune to move it destroys the weapon it came from. Unique weapons cannot be changed at all.

Facets are always a trade

A facet is one roll per item, fixed at the drop, and every one of them gives with one hand and takes with the other — Heavy is +20% damage for +25% stamina cost, Mystic is Focus Gain for stamina regen. Pick the facet whose cost lands on a stat the class does not use. Reported

Resistance facets scale with armor

Fireproof, Frostwoven, Insulated and Purified add an armor value toward one element rather than a flat percentage, and the value grows with your total armor — roughly 70–80 at 125 armor, far less below it. On a light-armor class they do little. Reported

Upgrades tier at 4 and 8

Gear runs from level 1 to 16, with tier breaks at 4 and 8. Higher-level items are likelier to roll facets but demand more from your attributes or character level.

What to watch next

The Wicked Inside showcase carries the full class system deep dive, and the December beta puts all twenty-four classes in players' hands. Those two events will replace most of the projected sections above.

Three things to check the moment numbers appear: whether the freeze and shatter from the experimental build survived into 1.0 and how it reads in the gear rules, what Cutthroat and Harbinger actually are, and how class traits interact with gems and enchantments — if traits can supply an element, the mono-element rule changes shape entirely.

05

Infusions

Infusions are the gems. Every one of them socketed into a weapon, a shield or a piece of armor, and what it does depends on where it sits: the same stone reads differently on a blade than on a helmet. There are forty-two in the live game, in twenty-one families of two tiers each — the chipped, tiny and small stones are tier one, the mottled and medium stones tier two.

Sockets are the constraint. Common gear carries four, magical, plagued and unique gear carry one, so a fully socketed common piece can out-build a rare one. The elemental gems carry a second constraint of their own, set out under that heading below.

Each family is listed once with both tiers side by side, grouped by what the gem is for. Item value is the merchant price in bronze. Effects are given per slot exactly as the game states them; where every armor piece reads the same the row is collapsed to All armor.

The whole list is drawn from the community wiki, which tracks the live build. The class system arriving at 1.0 may rework what these stones do; the loadout tables in the class profiles above already assume the current values.

Elemental

One element per build. The weapon gem grants the infusion; the shield gem deals that element while blocking; on armor every piece gives Enchantment Power, but only if it is the sole elemental gem you wear.

Enchantments

Enchantments are the rolls on magical and plagued gear. Every one is a range — the number an item actually carries lands somewhere inside it, and exalting at the Watcher pushes it up by a quarter per step, four steps at most. There are 405 of them in the live game across seven kinds of item.

They come in three pools. Magical is the ordinary pool. Plagued is the stronger pool that plagued gear rolls from, and plagued gear always carries one Downside alongside its upsides. An item never carries two enchantments from the same group, Misc excepted, so a piece's rolls read as a set rather than a list.

The pools are sorted here by the piece they land on, because that is how you meet them: standing over a drop, deciding whether the gloves are worth the sockets. Within each piece the magical and plagued pools are grouped the way the game groups them, which is also the rule for what can share an item.

Bows are listed separately from weapons; they share most of the melee pool and add their own dodge-and-retaliate rolls. Where a class profile above names an enchantment, it is one of these.

Vendors

Seventeen vendors trade on Isola Sacra. Twelve of them work Sacrament, the hub: an innkeeper, an enchanter, a smith, a cook, a general trader, a builder, an alchemist, two tailors, a woodworker, a rune seller and the Watcher. Four more keep stalls in Marin Village at village prices, and the Seneschal holds the Cerim Crucible and deals in Gloamseed.

Stock in the current build is not a fixed list. Most vendors draw their shelves at random from category pools, and what a stall tier buys you is more draws — Eleanor pulls three magic weapons at Level 1 and seven at Level 3. The tables give the pools, the rarity each draw can be, how many of each item a draw holds, and the number of picks at each shop level. Where a vendor also carries guaranteed items, those are listed with their prices.

Each vendor is listed with how to unlock them, where they stand, and what they trade. Prices are in the game's coin — gold, silver and bronze — and a price multiplier in the header means that vendor sells above or below the Sacrament rate. Traders exchange goods rather than sell them; their tables show what to give and what you get back.

The game data is drawn from norestforthewicked.gg, which reads it from the live build; the unlocks, locations, quests, services and building projects come from the Fextralife wiki. Where the two disagree the game data wins, and the old fixed price lists from early access have been retired.

Sacrament

The hub. Every stall here is a building Maker Danos can raise to Level 2 and Level 3, and each level widens what the vendor draws from.

Innkeeper

Caroline

Caroline's Inn — The Dusty LoomSacrament

Proprietor of The Dusty Loom, Sacrament's inn and tavern, and wife of Gordon the chef. The inn is a ruin when you first walk in; once Maker Danos rebuilds it the tavern fills with people to talk to and there are beds upstairs to rest in.

How to unlock

  • Speak to Maker Danos at Sacrament and upgrade her inn to Level 2.

Where to find

  • Sacrament: You can find Caroline inside her inn, which is the first structure ahead of you when you enter Sacrament. On your first visit, her inn will be in ruins and you can walk inside to find her with no loading screen. Once you rebuild it to at least level 2 however, there will be a door to enter.

What they offer

  • Once her inn is upgraded to level 2, you'll be able to speak to different people inside the tavern and there will be beds available for you to rest with on the second floor.

The tall woman who enchants and infuses your equipment in Sacrament, and the vendor this guide's Infusions and Enchantments chapters lead back to. Sympathetic to the Cerim. Her stall draws magic weapons and utility runes, more of each with every shop level.

How to unlock

  • Eleanor is unlocked as a Merchant as soon as you reach Sacrament. You can upgrade her shop to increase the variety of wares that she sells.

Where to find

  • Sacrament: Eleanor can be found in the northern section of the Marketplace in Sacrament, near a stone bridge and Whittacker's stall.

Services

EnchantSilver1 per itemEnchants an item, raising the item's rarity to either Rare (blue) or Plagued (purple) and granting it additional and potentially powerful affixes at random. This process also removes the last 3 Gem slots and 2 Rune slots from the enchanted item.
InfuseSilver1 per gemInfuses the power of a Gem into the chosen item, granting additional passive effects while that item is equipped. Infusion requires 1 free Gem slot on the target item.
Runeno chargeAdds a Rune to a weapon or allows a Rune to be extracted from a weapon. Note that extracting a Rune destroys the item it is removed from and existing runes cannot be overwritten.
Blacksmith

Fillmore

Fillmore's SmithyOrban Glades · Sacrament · prices ×1 / ×0.5 · upgrades to Level 3

The first vendor you meet, and you meet him being beaten by the Risen in the mess hall at Mariner's Keep. Save him and he hands over the Gate Lever Handle that opens the road to Sacrament. Out at the Keep he sells a broad spread at half price; in Sacrament he keeps to melee weapons, shields, tools and ingots, and his rebuilt forge is where gear is crafted and upgraded.

How to unlock

  • You'll first find Fillmore in the southern portion of Mariner's Keep. You'll hear him get beat up by some of The Risen trying to get some money out of him. You'll be blocked off by a door which you'll need the Mess Hall Key to open. To get the key, clear the area of The Risen, and one of them will drop the key as loot. Afterward, open the door and defeat his assailants to unlock him as a Merchant.
  • He'll have a more general set of wares as a Merchant in the Mariner's Keep but will stick to Tools and equippable gear when you find him in Sacrament. You can upgrade his shop to make more wares and features available.

Where to find

  • Mariner's Keep: Fillmore can be found past the door that needs the Mess Hall Key, south of Mariner's Keep.
  • Sacrament: Fillmore can be found in the Marketplace in Sacrament, to the north past Grinnich and Markos.

Quests

  • Sacrament: Fillmore gives you the Gate Lever Handle if you manage to save him from his attackers. This will open the gate to the east of Mariner's Keep and allow you to progress to Sacrament.

Notes

  • You can unlock more wares for Fillmore to sell, as well as features like crafting and upgrading Equipment, when you build up his forge in Sacrament.

Where to find
